Renting a car online to anywhere outside of the US is full of surprises. The additional fees, the lack of customer service, and language barriers become really frustrating. Even when visiting the Dominican Republic, I speak Spanish, it’s a really “fun” experience.
On my last trip, which was during Christmas and New Years’ while dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, we Booked through Sixt Car Rental Punta Cana. Usually, we book through Avis or Budget, and it’s always a mental preparation when I land. knowing I have to know they’re going to charge a DR insurance premium and now pay more.
But this time was different. There was bit of a shock when I was told there’s a $6,000 hold but once I saw there were no additional fees, and what I paid online was the final total, I was hooked.
